Spiritualism for justice

God see’s what’s happening in Palestine.

New Age spirituality can feel very self-centered. We focus on our healing, our manifestations, and anything to improve our own lives. Of course, it's important, but imagine if we directed these techniques to the planet at large?

Using our spirituality not only on ourselves, but towards the planet can bring peace on Earth. By examining the emergence of the Spiritualist Movement, the science behind the effects of meditation, and by using our energetic currency wisely, a huge opportunity is revealed... We can anchor positive change in our world energetically.

the spiritualist movement and how it shaped american society

Mary Todd Lincoln, Abraham Lincoln's wife, believed in ghosts. She was an abolitionist and a huge supporter of a movement called ✨ Spiritualism.

The Spiritualist movement was emerging in the 1840s due to mass deaths in the Civil War. Americans utilized seances and mediums to soothe their grief over their lost beloved. This mass coping mechanism opened Americans up to the other side as they were able to contact the dead. And it didn't stop there…

Psychics channeled information involving social justice. Particularly about women's suffrage and the abolition of slavery. Women began utilizing the movement as a platform to speak about politics. Christians were leaving the church because of its ill support to women and people of color. Spiritualism wasn't only about mysticism, but also for improving humanity.

Nowadays, more of us are in touch with the other side than ever before. We can assist the evolution of humanity with our daily spiritual practices... and make change. A big issue right now is war. The genocide of Palestinians in Gaza will never be the answer in uniting a people. The war in Ukraine shouldn't have to happen to promote peace. Humans hurting other humans is not natural, helpful, or right.

It's time to make an impact and the best part is that you can.

meditation decreases crime rates

Science proves that spirituality has a positive effect on both society and individuals. "Preventing Crime Through the Maharishi Effect" shows that crime reduces when we practice transcendental meditation together in one place (Orme-Johnson, 257)

This study examined all 24 cities in the United States with populations over 10,000 in which 1% or more of their populations were practicing the T.M. (transcendental meditation) program by 1972. These experimental cities were compared to 24 control cities selected by an independent investigator prior to collection of the last several years of data… In 1973, there was a significant (24%) decrease in crime rate in 1% cities relative to controls… (Orme-Johnson, 268)

Our collective efforts don’t go unnoticed. If they are being highlighted in science, imagine what waves we’re making on the astral planes?

your personal spiritual practice can change the world 🫶

Though Orme-Johnson's paper speaks more on transcendental meditation, I make a different case. By using our energy right we can create impact. This means utilizing our thoughts, emotions, energy, time, and money for the good of all. No matter how small our contribution is, we may create some effect as we've seen in the paper above.

In Shaman Durek’s podcast, he explains that our thoughts have physical consequences, not just in our own lives, but in others’ reality as well

Recently on tumblr, I posted about putting this to the test. During an uneventful meditation, I heard two people come outside to argue. It took me everything not to break my meditation and run to my partner so we could snoop on what they were saying!

As if it was an invitation from the universe, I stayed the course in meditation. As time went by, the podcast I mentioned above appeared in my mind. So, I tested what Shaman Durek posed. I built love in my body and sent it to the arguing people.

Self-doubt appeared, but I persisted in at least trying... Slowly they weren’t talking over one another–they were giving each other space to listen. Their tones became more friendly. They started laughing and poking fun at the situation. But they were still hashing out their issues.

I finished my meditation with tears in my eyes. I couldn’t help but to feel that the experiment worked.

Imagine if I had broken the meditation to bring my partner over to gossip. Would entertaining the negativity exacerbate the problem..?

Though this was anecdotal, I encourage you to practice this tactic and make up your own mind. We manifest and energize our own desires all the time... what about energizing things outside of us that we want to grow? Like justice, love, and peace.

We can do this for the many conflicts in our world: Palestine, Ukraine, Armenia, wherever your heart is. At times, the countries are thousands of miles away, but by using our energy properly we can create impact.

prayers for palestine

In efforts to contribute, here's a channeled prayer for Palestine from my guides. Feel free to recite as you read this in your mind or out loud:

Palestine lives in sunlight. Seen and heard. Rejoiced and loved.

She is stood up for, given comfort, grace, and space.

The world sees her, acknowledges her, and protects her.

Humanity sees her, acknowledges her, and protects her.

We see her, acknowledge her, and protect her.

I see her, acknowledge her, and protect her.

And so it is.

In regards to the injustices we experience, apathy will do nothing. Anger is warranted. And transmutation is needed. For those of us angry watching, let's be more intentional with our energy. Let's direct our positive thoughts, energy, and resources to our fellow humans... always.

Thank you for reading, I hope you enjoyed 💜

With love and faith in you,

Zamira
